We had a busy year!

Some highlights…

February 2009, West Seattle Be Prepared (http://westseattle.bepreparedseattle.info) website launch! [Note that as of 2013, our website URL is westseattlebeprepared.org].

5th Annual Gathering of Neighbors, April 4th. We had an informational table (see photo); here is a link to all Gathering of Neighbors event photos.

Emergency Communications weekend conference, April 5th. We spoke on a panel titled “Hams in the ‘hood”.

Healthcare Decisions in Disasters meeting, April 25th. We participated in the first of several public scenario-based focus group meetings on the topic of pandemic flu medical care prioritization. The summary, Public Engagement Project Final Report, details findings from all of the meetings.

Sustainable West Seattle Festival, May 3rd. Distributed postcard maps showing the Emergency Communication Hubs.

Edible Garden Fair, May 23rd. We had an informational booth with information about the West Seattle emergency communication hubs and SNAP materials. Coverage of the event included a photo of our booth.

Morgan Junction Community Festival, June 13th. We had an informational table.

SNAP training on 3/12, 3/24, and 5/7. These West Seattle SNAP training sessions included information about the communication hubs and the postcard maps were distributed to attendees.

We attended numerous Night Out block parties on August 4th to do outreach about the hubs.
